Just keeps crashing at launch, tried everything, uninstalling reinstalling game, video drivers, different video modes, administrator win 7 and 8 compatibility modes, etc. Always, crashes within about 10 seconds of the game loading. So frustrating. lol

This is on an SSD 6 gbps hard drive, 2 gig r260x, amd hexacore, 4 gigs ram. Running Win10 64 bit.

I think I figured it out, looks like the 1980x1020 was the issues, once I was able to change that to a lower rez, the crashing stopped.

Nope, it just crashes. lol oh boy. so now I can't fly, and it just crashes. 10 seconds into load of game, and it crashes. Once in a while it will stabilize as in the game windows elements will expand and contract like a rubber band and eventually it stops and simmers down and the game seems to go smooth, but then, it crashes.

I have to admit keeping a journal like this to myself to remind myself of everything I've tried and tested, well, it's kinda nice. Hum, maybe I'll become a blogger so no one will read or respond to my crisis. Ah well, so I am installing this again on a flat win 7 64 bit with a 1 gig video card (my old 4680 yep still runs, think I've had this thing operational at least about 10 years now. But for a work computer, I'm glad I've gotten so much use out of that beast. Anywho, so this is a QuadCore CPU Pentium 3 Gbps running on a 3 Gbps SSD drive with 4 gigs and the 1 gig video, older drivers.

My previous tests on the hexacore with 2 gig card, the only time its sorta worked was when I deleted all files including the silverhelm folders in my "localxxx" i forget the exact path, but anyway, total clean delete etc, reinstall, it works the first run, or well, it did. But I've tried everything different driver versions, all modes I can select tried, nope, just crashes.

So I'm running it today on my older work machine, lets see how hot my 4860 gets, the card does like to get hot with intensive code so we will see I've got my fan on high and my ram gpu on low. The 4860 overheats if I run at normal and play an intensive game, it destroys temp. But for as many times as I've overheated and lost the system to crash, it still works, 10 years, that's $10/year for this card.

I'm so cheap, lol

But I'm testing now on my Pentium quad 3 gbps cpu, ok, it's working, the rubberbanding of the in game window elements "main missions" panel did do the same thing on this machine, but it did it really fast and the game became stable.

So then there's some issue with the Win10 64 bit AMD HexaCore R260X running the game.

My pentium with my good old 4860 running win 7 64 bit old driver ssd hard drive is actually working! Finally, it has happened to me and I'm so excited to be able to explore and play the game. If anyone has any suggestions as to why this is not working on the WIN10 64 bit AMD Hexa 2 Gig R260X 4 Gigs Ram, vs, Win 7 64 bit Pentium QuadCore 3 Gbps ATI4860 1 Gig 4 Gigs Ram, by all means.

But I literally tried everything. Today is my Saturday, and I'm so happy I get to play it. Not happy about it running on my work PC, but I'll get thru somehow.

Now if only flying was working. Hum, I wonder if.... (with my luck probably not...)

Sorry I can't be more helpful. I don't know what your exact issue is, as each system is different. I'm not sure if your issue is hardware, or software. I know it doesn't help you, but it runs good on my machine with no tricks needed.

My system is 2 years old:
Win 10 64 bit
870M GeForce GTX video
Intel Core i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40 GHz
16 GB Ram

I'll throw in my two cents here too.

I also have the rubber banding mission menu issue, but only for one character. When I log in as my archer, I'm stuck in the wooded area where I was last teaming up with captain_karate. As we were playing, I got booted. I tried to log back in and the mission menu rubber bands, hangs after about 7 seconds, and then I have to force quit ( ctrl-alt-dlt & end task).

I still cannot play as the archer after multiple restarts etc.

However, when I log into one of my other characters, I don't have any issues. Have you tried creating another character?

Also, I am running the game on my older laptop, with nearly bare minimums under the spec guidelines. I went into the settings and put my machine on 'Fastest' graphic settings. I definitely tell the difference in the speed of game play, and the graphics, but because I can't run on my mac yet, I figured running on low is better than nothing.

Long story short, I have had similar problems. Try creating another character if the first has that rubber banding mission menu. Also, set your graphics to 'Fastest' setting to see if that helps.

Thanks for all the great input. We've isolated a few reasons why crashing is happening quite frequently and have fixed most of them already. We have a few more issues to resolve and they are a result of the physics server behaving inappropriately. Testing on the new physics server updates will take place tonight, and updates on the status will be posted afterwards.

We're nearly stable, and the physics server's performance is key to stabilization. Look forward to more information real soon.

So, I did finally reinstall the PC clean Win 10 64 bit and installed the game first thing, works fine. I dunno mustve been alot of junk and such like the multitude of visual c updates. Anyway, it works on 2 of my PC just fine. My work PC runs the game, Win 7 64 bit ssd hd, quad core 4 gigs ram 1 gig video ati 4870. The other Win 10 64 bit, ssd hd, hexa core 4 gigs 2 gig video ati r260x runs fine too.

Now if there was just the ability to fly, I will LIVE AGAIN!

I will dearly miss you in my heart City of Heroes. You don't know how many fun times I had playing with all my friends online. I look forward, to the next generation of games, and what's to come.
