when i'm on the character creator screen i can't see the left side of the color pallet, the words of the color pallet are cut off and i'm assuming some colors aren't visible. I've tried various screen resolutions to see if that helps.

No it's not an issue. I think that they haven't implemented yet the first color, to chiange the colour of your character clothes/parts you have to select the color clicking on the second square behind the image of the parts.
