Out of curiosity - create another character, and give it a try to see what happens. This happened to my wife. Her first character she created, she entered the world, and momentarily saw herself as a box, the bottom of the map, then just as if she were invisible and standing there. Couldn't do anything.
Created a new character and everything is fine. The first one she created is still bugged. Something to do with changes being made with the chargen?
