I have to admit. That I's pretty tight for cash Right now.
And the last Game I back I ended up not enjoying at all.

Anyway what I was wondering if I can set up a small monthly
Subscription for the Kickstater drive than give a lump sum ( that I don't have )

Greetings Gilliam:

We've engineered our solution so that your donations compile; every donation adds to your current amount. So you don't have to commit to a tier's exact value to eventually reach the higher tiers. You could commit to monthly recurring payments until you reach the higher tiers, or simply commit to one-time donations at your own preferred pace.

Is there anyway for you guys to get the word out for VO? There does not appear to be a decent amount of support from donations atm. I echo the sentiments of one of the comments on facebook, are you guys worried? How can you promote it in its' current state? What if people are not convinced/impressed?

Only one way to tell and that is to spread the word... anything you can do to help is appreciated but we will also be doing more of a social media and press push this week.

Once there's more buzz and social media pushing for the game I think donations will increase, even more so once there's some videos of gameplay and information about story coming out. Add to those things a more fleshed out reward tier and things will really start to pick up.

I do advertise this game or tell people "Next upcoming city of heroes seems to be valiance online" when I can, but without the main staple of city of heroes customization not working it's hard to brag about this.

On a side note do I have to manually do anything to the game folders when a game update comes out? or no?

Launcher will update everything automatically when it... launches. :D

Much more customization on the way!

I'm definitely saving up to give one heft donation later down the road.
If this game really implements everything it says it plans to, or at least even shows the honest effort to, I'll no doubt donate continuously.
I'm also a professional artist and I plan on doing a few pieces of fan art for this game, so I can help spread the word of this to other potential donators.

While I do hope that you guys really get the money rolling in. Been craving another superhero MMO. I'm rooting for VO. Let us not forget about City of Titans either. They are in the making as well using UE4. Both companies are supporting each other. What I was able to play in VO I had a lot of fun. Keep up the good work!

I have to say there is a huge difference... VO did not start out with well over a half-million dollars in their pocket. Nothing against CoT as a project in and of itself, but it sounds like you are inferring that we should keep them in mind while we are donating to VO. I think that is way off course. VO could really use the money and they've really worked hard to get this far.

I'm not going to tell anyone how to vote with their wallet, but I already gave CoT a substantial donation during their KS. They've got all they're going to get from me. I'm going to be directing everything I can to these guys. If we could even get them *half way* to the amount that CoT had in the end of the KS... can you imagine where VO would be at this point? They've been doing all of this with full time jobs. Give them the ability to pay a few people a real salary for a few years? I can't even begin to think how far ahead they would be by now with the ability to dedicate full time work.

This is true. And I will admit that they have come a long way from what I've previously seen so not out to bash anyone's game here. They have been working really hard and I hope they'll be able to bring as much $$ as possible. I want them to succeed. :)

I've been waiting a while to donate to the game which seems like it's going to give me the best CoH fix. I hate to see the projects compete, since they're both in the same spirit, but I can really only afford to choose one. Naturally I could spend the same amount and divide whatever that is between the two projects, but is that really in the interests of the genre? CoT is fully funded as far as I'm concerned, so if I keep seeing the progress I've seen so far from Valiance then they'll likely get my donation. The design and the content currently available to play engages my CoH lobe.

Black Desert Online were smart to release a standalone creator, which people can try, which is something I alluded to in a thread which was flamed to a crisp. I am not sure how far along they are or what they can add. A creator with more options and a taste of the minion customization options would surely get players attention.

To be honest, I try not to post the in-game footage, cause....you know....players would flame my efforts to dust. I feel as if it would do more harm than good at this point.

This is me right here, a former FFXI player.

Not much interest. In a way, I think CoT's is actually affecting any other "Successor" They feel as if the CoT team has broken many deadlines and promises, so they will believe it when they see it at this point. Pre-alpha advertising aint cutting it to be completely honest. VO needs to bring out the big guns.

I think that VO is just waiting until they have the big guns to unload with really. They've been showing what's coming up and talked about some of it on that interview. I would say do the big update with the new models and more complete powers (like fix the glitchy ones that don't fire right, etc.) and put in travel powers *first* - then go big guns-a-blazing with the advertising. You know like a 'Look at this shi* folks! You want results? Well here are some friggin results. And we're just getting started with the good stuff!' Obviously a bit more diplomatic than that but...

Also, I've referenced Black Desert a few times. I don't think a character creator is a bad idea, but BD's came out just shy of 3 months before release. I'm not flaming anyone - just pointing out that I think it will be a while before this game system is at the stage where keeping a creator in sync with the game will be feasible to release to the public, without causing a lot of angst at launch... when possibly none of the toons you built would work! lol

I really liked that the creator for BD let you toy around with toons and downloaded some of the game in the background. I would love for VO to do that in the end. It really helps people like myself with crappy slow internet. Get most of the underlying game downloaded, then whatever is patched in on launch day. Done.

I predict that donations will speed up rather quickly once they get out of pre-alpha. Folks want hope when it comes to these MMO projects, things that can validate a donation. Quite frankly, the interviews and whatnot sound great, but that is simply talk. Sounds harsh, but it is just the reality, kickstarter projects have a bad rep, devs have to prove it with tangible content in this day and age.

When the content measures up to the claims, then the cash will come pouring in imo. When it reaches Steam status like ARK, then folks will buy in. Pre-alpha is just too damn messy to play, folks want to play a game. I rarely test at all. The only time I test is after an update, but logout after like 2 minutes. I don't believe I have never got past level 2.

I think that's a good point, and ARK was a royal piece of crap when it very first hit Steam. OMG! I've never been so frustrated with a game in my life! LOL - but it was still fun and addictive, even with all the glitches from hell. So I think VO has a lot of leeway. They do that big update and smooth out the wrinkles... I think they will get the green no problem.

Big thing with ARK and others that have made it on Steam... is staying on top of it. Staying in communication, and updating as regularly as possible. People will forgive a whole lotta crap (because coding an entirely new system - things just break sometimes. Sucks.) if you will just actually talk to them, keep them updated, show them what you're actually doing, and then get the game updated asap.

Next donation should get me Platinum badge, but now I've paid off my loans I can donate more and possibly gain a new source of income to help boost the donation process.
