Lots of server events with fun but not OP powered loot. Can add holiday themed pieces that are unlocked each holiday by participating, titles if in the game, equipment of magical items, etc.

Such as for Halloween add in a magical staff that can summon a flaming jack o lantern that floats around you, or a witch's broom that gives you a slow flight power for an hour.

These were a key element to many MMORPGs and especially CoH/CoV. I think they had some of the best server-wide events. Especially the first Winter event. That was simply a blast having so many players try to take down the bosses and all those lieutenants and minions! But I do like treasure hunt style events and missions as well.

Please if you do zones, make them part of the game-world. Nothing worse than being teleported to a zone without it being part of the game world. Maybe during off-season; like a winter-themed zone, have it accessible year-round season/weather dependent. ie after the Winter Event and spring rolls around, the snow melts in the zone and flowers bloom. Maybe then have that same area as part of a Spring-time themed event. Same for Summer and Fall. Makes more sense than having all these disconnected teleport-accessible zones only.
