I played the alpha this morning for about 4 hours and decided to make a video which I will link below. Try not to laugh too much because I've never made one before.

I felt it would be easier to show other players and the development team my initial impressions and issues I am having "out of the gate" than send a long list of possible bugs/complaints. If a picture speaks a thousand words then hopefully a video will be > a picture!

I love the feel of the alpha already and welcome feedback from players and devs.

Very well done! You managed to show off the strengths and weaknesses of the current state of the game quite succinctly.

I freshly installed the download ran the launcher and made it through the character/costume creation fine but once entering the game, after forever (20 minutes staring at the Cryogenics building until my character name, stats and figure appear) the screen simply would freeze, never letting me move or use anything. Eventually it would log me out back to the log in screen. Here is my system info:
AMD Athlon II X2 55 processor 3.10 GHz 4.0 Gb RAM 64 bit op. sys Win 7 ultimate

So I downloaded to my tablet pc but it says it cannot use it. info:
Intel(R) Atom CPUZ3735F @ 133 Ghz 2.0 Gb RAM 32 bit op sys., x64-based processor Win 8.1

Would this not run on a tablet? No 32 bit version? I was hoping to find out if it will function better on it as I found Second Life can? The reason why I'm concerned is I can still run the Paragon Chat/CoT server on my pc with no lag or issues and I was thinking Valiance will be the same way. Let me know your thoughts/ advice/guesses for my situation so I know how to adjust, thanks.

I also was able to get on for the first time yesterday. Definitely has the old COH feel to it. Obviously the game is not optimized yet but I can see the frame work for the game is there and ready to be optimized. I also had the freeze up after making a character but once i x'd out of the freeze and reloaded I loaded in with out a problem. Same thing with the freeze up on the character model when the model would just glide across the screen with no movement from the model... relogged and fixed that problem.

One thing I did notice was my first character i made was a brawler and his attack skill cooldown wasn't not working correctly. Seemed to be very dim and hard to notice. Now when I deleted this character and tried out range the first cooldown attack button didn't have this problem and appeared to work correctly.

But over all excited to see the game up and hope for the best! I think once optimized will really bring back that old COH feeling and then some!

You would have to have a pretty beefy tablet to run this game, I think your desktop is just over the minimum requirements:

you can change the graphic settings with the gear icon in the lower right on the login screen, that might make a difference.

Unity System Requirements


I think the key here is that VO is not optimized for gaming at this time. It is far closer to a development platform than a game at the moment and so you should look at the development requirements of Unity3D to get a better feel for what hardware you need.

As cyanpill said I doubt very much an Atom powered tablet can run this.


I also had the freeze issue when first launching in to the game but I didn't cover that on my video. I merely opened the Task Manager and and ended the VO64bit process and restarted. Got in just fine the second time around and no slow-downs or crashes during the 4 hours of play.

Interesting about the lock up when first loading the game- I had that months ago, but only once. And now with the new accounts, I had it once again. So it's likely something due to the force character gen that skips the character select the first time? Or something else account related.

I updated with the launcher and got through character creation alright. 10 minutes of staring at a static screen of Frost Cryonics in the background leads me to this screen, 4 minutes later the character name fills in but it's like a painting. Nothing moves or reacts; I tried clicking on the settings gears at top right but eventually the cursor freezes up too. If I lead it up long enough it will log me out after saying "not responding" at the top. I have my security program (AVG FREE) off and I can't think of anything. I attached a picture of what I see on my screen; the task bar obliterates the power buttons so IO cannot see if what are there.
