This is a small suggestion that can really boost a games appeal. It's definitely not a game breaker if it is done poorly but if it is done right, it really makes the game a lot more enjoyable.

Text. This includes font type, colors, the window that text is inserted to. I've noticed this is usually overlooked in MMO's/RPGs. And if it is done poorly, I'll normally run up to an NPC, obtain my quest and close out any window that has text because it is a chore to read.

This can easily be fixed by having addon/mod support so people can download their own UI design. Or even having a built in UI customization. Just having the option is a great to customize the UI in anyway is great.

In-game music. Now I know not every company/studio/developer has an infinite amount of money to hire a composer as good as Hans Zimmer. Which is okay. A game doesn't necessarily need someone like that. But I have played some MMO's where the music didn't fit the scenery or there were times where there just wasn't much variety in the music.

I'm sure most people enjoy listening to intense music right before they enter a big boss fight. I'm sure most people would be thrown off if they were flying through a city in ruins and all they could hear is upbeat/happy music lol. And I'm sure most people will get a little bored if they have the same couple songs looping in game lol.

These are just two small suggestions that I think MMO's tend to overlook. And like I said. If either of these were done poorly, it wouldn't necessarily be a game breaker but if done right, it really makes the game a lot more enjoyable.

Music is a big subject.

Every MMO RPG I played had a short track during character creation.

If you stay in character creation for 2 or 3 hours, you should listen to at least 2 or 3 tracks each about 10 minutes long.
Most of the MMO´s just serve you with a 5 minunte track and an unbearable repeat. Everyone should know that most of the players spend a lot of time in character creation mode.

I hope VO will be the fist game that don´t make me turn off the music after 1 hour in character creation. *crosses fingers*

Yeah they could always have all the game music play on loop in the Creator to prevent that, though I will say they could also give everyone 1 free costume change per character. Then they can get a rough design and go into the costume tailor after creation.

That would reduce the time you spend in the creator. I've found I never spend more than 10-15min and that often feels like a lot to me. Mostly because once you're in the game world and see how other people are using costume elements or even how game world lighting makes yours look, you'll likely make changes or tweaks.

I don't think you'll have to worry about the music part. They already have a composer: Jon Scigulinsky. He's done some really good work, and the music he has come up with for VO just so far has been really good stuff. I can't wait to hear all the music I haven't heard yet!
Got to do an interview with him a long time ago after his very first few themes got put together for the game and they were really well done.
Connection from Slavakia wasn't doing very well that night, ended up having to splice together what we could of the interview, but it was fun and Jon had a couple of surprise tunes nobody had heard up until that point if you want to listen: soundcloud.com/jmobiled/johnscigulinsky-interview-11

I have no idea about text, but from past comments and conversations, the UI will be configurable to say the least. I don't know about being able to create local file for it, but in the end by the time release gets here I would think you could have enough color control to make it easy on the eyes all you want. Just have to keep after the devs I guess. :)
It's a beautiful day in San Cielo!
