Gregory was the third child of Linda and Bob Stanton. He was many years younger than his siblings, being born when his brothers were 15 and 19. His two older brothers were brilliant scientists. Both had awards in their respective fields with many published papers. Gregory struggled living in their shadows. He was smart, but not super genius smart. His grades were good, but his teachers couldn't stop reminding him about how great his brothers grades were. It drove him a little crazy.

His parents were loving and supportive. A little too loving and supportive. Once his brothers moved out, they started keeping foster children. Gregory was looking forward to being the sole receiver of his parents affections. Unfortunately, the foster children seemed to get the the attention and love. Child after child would come in, steal his parent's affection. Each was worst than the previous. The last one that Gregory tolerated was a boy named Thomas. Thomas reminded him of his brothers, always smarter and better than him. When Thomas offered to help Gregory with his math homework, Gregory lost it. He punched Thomas in the face and went in for another before his father broke them up. Thomas when on to another foster home and Gregory was sent off to military school.

He never forgave his parents for this betrayal. Or his brothers for not helping. And especially Thomas, who couldn't just mind his own business. Gregory spent the next 10 years in the military. His drive to prove himself made him an excellent soldier. Eventually he qualified to become a member of an Advanced Force Recon squad. He spent years over seas working black ops. Assassinations, sabotage, and intelligence gathering. His training made him proficient with a wide variety of weapons, a master of tactics, and a ghost at stealth. His prowess earned him the nickname SCYTHE. All of this was so that he could take his vengeance on those that had wronged him.

His oldest brother was the easiest. A simple forgery of data made him a laughing stock in the science community. His other brother was an avid hang-glider. He was crippled when his hang-glider failed. Both legs useless. His parents were killed in an extremely bizarre car accident. The last person on the list, Thomas. Thomas had become a goodie-goodie hero with a power suit, but nothing SCYTHE couldn't handle.
