I like the idea, but how would it work, especially from a progression point of view? With traditional pets, the play style is more about controlling minions. I feel like a clone situation would want to feel a little more...independent. Like the clones would be a bit more self-directed.
Turning this type of powerset into a split screen would be absolutely awesome, where you could pick an avatar to actively control and have the others switch to an autopilot/"keep doing what you're doing (patrol, fight, escort, move to x, etc.)" mode. Maybe progression is about increasing the complexity of tasks, or something. Or, like, adding a full defense clone and a full offense clone, splitting abilities proportionately as necessary, etc.
I think that play style would be distinct from pet types, where it's more typical to have a field-general, directing-the-troops feel.
What you are suggesting is a bit complicated in term of mechanic. I agree that powersets should feel different from one another, but they should also be easily implementable and not too complicated for the user to control.
Here's a suggestion I think would help make the Clones powerset stand out. If instead of having a split screen situation you had the ability to simply select one of your clones and switch place with it? That would make this powerset's mechanic absolutely unique!
