I've recently invested and joined the investors alpha and I'm having major issues on the character creator. No matter what power group I choose (i.e. ranged damage) the power choice on the next step is always melee, and the power selection screen won't let me select the initial powers.

Without choosing the powers I can't progress beyond this point.

You have to click on the "Select" button in order to confirm your choice, before clicking on "Next". It is located on the character, it is barely visible.

Thanks - but there is still an issue selecting powers even after using the 'select' option - see screen shot

I'm not sure why that happened, so I did some testing to try to replicate it. Just now I tried to make a new character, and once I got to the character creation screen I immediately went to Abilities, and saw a screen like you saw. This would make sense since I didn't hit SELECT for any powers. But as soon as I went to the GROUPS screen, and hit SELECT for the default brawler powers, I moved back to the abilities tab, and I saw it had changed to reflect my power choices.

Just going to the Powers tab and hitting select, also leaves the screen as you posted. Make sure you are making your initial power group choices by hitting SELECT from the GROUPS tab, in order to have the ABILITIES tab update accordingly.

It is a bit confusing, but GROUPS is where you select your archetype. POWERS is where you choose the powers specific to your archetype choice. Abilities is where you see which powers are in your primary and secondary power sets, and choose which ones from your primary you want to slot to begin play with.

Easy steps...
1)Go to groups and select powers by hitting SELECT.
2)Go to Powers tab, and select powers from the available options, and hit SELECT.
3)Check ABILITIES tab, and it should be updated.

Found the problem - the interface needs to have a name applied before allowing groups or powers selections

Just getting into the game for the first time myself, I experienced the same thing as the OP stated.

Captain_Karate's note helped in at least getting to actually finally select something, but JadeWarrior is right... whatever I select, Street Brawling is the only thing that shows up in the end.
